While still young, Natana suffered an electric shock that resulted in the amputation of one forelimb — one of the most common accidents for wild primates moving through urban or rural areas with exposed wiring. Before arriving at the reserve, she took part in scientific and breeding programs for the species' conservation. Today she lives at the reserve as a permanent resident.
