Lolita

Lolita was raised illegally as a pet and released into the wild as an adult by the person who had kept her — without ever learning to live in a troop, without the social and physical skills a howler monkey normally learns from its own family in the first years of life. She encountered wild howlers in Barretos, São Paulo state, and was attacked: multiple lacerations, the loss of one forelimb, and several fingers. The reserve is now the only place she can live — neither captivity nor the wild remain an option for her.
