Jaci was injured by glass-coated kite string, resulting in the partial amputation of one wing. This cutting line poses a silent risk to birds of all sizes — it slices through mid-flight, and most victims never survive the accident or make it to rescue. Jaci lives at the reserve today as a permanent resident.
